IHU ICAN’s partner University Diplomas

IHU ICAN’s University Diplomas (DU / DIU) partners

To support training in cardiometabolic professions, IHU ICAN is a partner in several university diplomas (DU, DIU) or degrees managed by Sorbonne Université. These diplomas help train healthcare professionals to build tomorrow’s medicine in the fight against cardiometabolic diseases.

Find out more about these courses below.

  1. DU – Health and cardiometabolic diseases
  2. DU – Sports Cardiology
  3. DIU – Physical activity, nutrition and health
  4. DIU – Biology and sports medicine
  5. DU.GMB – University Diploma in Biological and Medical Engineering Doctoral School and UE Module (LMD)

1. DU – Health and cardiometabolic diseases

Training coordinators: Pr Vlad Ratziu (Hepatologist, AP-HP / IHU ICAN) and Pr Stéphane Hatem (Cardiologist, AP-HP and Director of the IHU ICAN)

What’s the main objective?

o Understand the epidemiological, pathogenic, clinical and therapeutic interdependence of pathologies caused by metabolic dysfunction, and detail the spectrum of organ damage associated with metabolic dysfunction, its clinical translation, public health consequences and therapeutic principles.

Who is this DU for?

o Specialist physicians (hepatogastroenterology, cardiology, diabetology, internal medicine, endocrinology, nutrition) and general practitioners.
o Doctoral or post-doctoral students engaged in research in the above-mentioned specialties.
o Medical directors of pharmaceutical companies (doctor or pharmacist diploma or equivalent); pharmaceutical industry liaison physicians.

2. DU – Sports Cardiology

Course coordinator: Pr Stéphane Hatem (Cardiologist AP-HP and Director of the ICAN IHU)

What’s the main objective?

o Theoretical and practical knowledge of how to manage the cardiovascular aspects of sport.

Who is this DU for?

o French and foreign medical doctors specializing in cardiology, cardiology interns.

3. DIU – Physical activity, nutrition and health

Training coordinators: Pr JM Oppert (Head of the nutrition department at IE3M, IHU ICAN / AP-HP) and Pr Stéphane Hatem (Cardiologist AP-HP and Director of IHU ICAN).

What are the objectives?

o Acquire up-to-date knowledge of physical activity and nutrition as a means of preventing and treating modern chronic pathologies.

o Know the main methods for measuring and managing physical activity.

o Know and know how to deliver advice and recommendations on physical activity and nutrition in the prevention and treatment of the main chronic pathologies.

Who is this DU for?

o Sports doctors – dieticians – medical doctors – interns – non-EU doctors. STAPS students, physiotherapists, nutritionists, physical trainers, physical activity teachers, psychologists, nurses, nutrition professionals.

4. DIU – Sports biology and medicine

Course coordinator: Pr Stéphane Hatem (Cardiologist AP-HP and Director of the ICAN IHU)

What’s the main objective?

o Theoretical and practical knowledge of the biological, physiological, medical and traumatological management of athletes. The teaching corresponds to modules 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the sports medicine and biology diploma.

Who is this DU for?

o Doctors, residents, hospital interns.

5. DU.GMB: Diplôme Universitaire de Génie Biologique et Médical (University Diploma in Biological and Medical Engineering) Doctoral School Module and UE (LMD) on research promotion

Supervisors: Pr Adrien SIX (Immunology – Sorbonne University) and Pr Alain SEZEUR (Professor Emeritus – Sorbonne University)

What’s the main objective?

o Know the economic and regulatory context for working with or in the healthcare industries and biomedical entrepreneurship.

Who is this DU for?
