ICAN Clinical Investigation, an expert clinical investigation platform dedicated to cardiometabolic diseases
Located in the IE3M (Institute of Endocrinology, Metabolic Diseases and Internal Medicine) in the heart of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital site, ICAN Clinical Investigation is a clinical investigation platform dedicated to biomedical research. As experts in cardiometabolic diseases, the ICAN Clinical Investigation teams support academic or industrial sponsors in setting up their clinical projects and contribute to the smooth running of clinical trials, from the feasibility stage and the selection of the center to the closing of the project.
Thanks to its unique location in Within the largest public hospital in Europe, ICAN Clinical Investigation is the privileged interlocutor to coordinate the various services present within the Pitié-Salpêtrière and the Department of Clinical Research and Innovation (DRCI) to conduct innovative academic and industrial clinical research projects.

Feasibility study and sizing of the research project
- Support for sizing the project: number of patients, number and types of examinations, assessment of human resources needs
- Legal support in the contracting of studies thanks to the expertise of the Legal and Valorization Pole of the IHU-ICAN
- Assistance in setting up a project by the Scientific Operations Department of the IHU ICAN

- Telephone pre-screening, verification of inclusion and exclusion criteria
- Very targeted screening “consultations, HDJ, complete hospitalizations, cohorts…”

- Management and organization of the patient circuit between the different departments
- Preparation of the roadmap and source documents

- Completion of the eCRF within the required deadlines
- Annual statistical declaration of health establishments (SAE) within 24 hours, with regular monitoring
- Investigator Workbooks Update

- Continuity of inclusions and project monitoring thanks to back-up clinical study technicians
- Reporting throughout the study to the sponsor
- Budget tracking and invoicing
Closing of the study
- Closure and archiving of documents at the end of the study
