ICAN Clinical Investigation, an expert clinical investigation platform dedicated to cardiometabolic diseases
Located in the IE3M (Institute of Endocrinology, Metabolic Diseases and Internal Medicine) in the heart of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital site, ICAN Clinical Investigation is a clinical investigation platform dedicated to biomedical research. As experts in cardiometabolic diseases, the ICAN Clinical Investigation teams support academic or industrial sponsors in setting up their clinical projects and contribute to the smooth running of clinical trials, from the feasibility stage and the selection of the center to the closing of the project.
Thanks to its unique location in in Europe’s largest public hospitalICAN Clinical Investigation is the key contact for coordinating the various departments within the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital and the Department of Clinical Research and Innovation (DRCI) to carry out innovative academic and industrial clinical research projects.

Feasibility study and sizing of the research project
- Support for sizing the project: number of patients, number and types of examinations, assessment of human resources needs
- Legal support in the contracting of studies thanks to the expertise of the Legal and Valorization Pole of the IHU-ICAN
- Assistance in setting up a project by the Scientific Operations Department of the IHU ICAN
Setting up the study
Optimization of recruitment
- Telephone pre-screening, verification of inclusion and exclusion criteria
- Very targeted screening “consultations, HDJ, complete hospitalizations, cohorts…”
- Assistance to investigators during inclusion and follow-up visit
