In 2024, IHU ICAN will be participating in the Course des Héros for the third consecutive year!
Our goal? To raise funds for the fight against one of the leading causes of death in France, and the number one cause of death among women: cardiometabolic diseases (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, liver disease, etc.).
Join us by participating in one of France’s biggest charity events!

Want to join us in supporting a worthy cause?

1. Join us for the race on June 16, 2024, at the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud (92). Choose from a 2 km discovery trail (suitable for young children, people with reduced mobility, and strollers), a 5 km walk (open to all), or an 8 km run (ages 16 and up). These are non-timed events, and no medical certificate is required.

2. Support the fundraiser for the IHU ICAN
Make a donation on the participants’ fundraising pages, or create your own fundraising page (whether you are participating in the race/walk or not).

3. Get your company involved in the adventure

The 2024 goal: accelerating research into cardiometabolic diseases
In 2023, our participants raised €5,510, which helped fund a highly innovative heart transplant project, successfully carried out on October 24, 2023, by Prof. Guillaume Lebreton (cardiac surgeon, IHU ICAN/AP-HP, Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital). Thank you to our generous donors!
In 2024, our medical teams hope to raise €10,000 to improve the diagnosis, care, and treatment of women and men with cardiometabolic diseases.
A real public health scourge, cardiometabolic diseases have been steadily increasing in recent years. They are now a major cause of death in France (the leading cause among women) and the leading cause of death worldwide (source: CépiDc/Inserm).
They include many diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases (high blood pressure, thrombosis, cardiomyopathies, stroke, heart failure), liver diseases (including metabolic liver steatosis or fatty liver disease), and hypercholesterolemia.
They are very common and often diagnosed too late because they develop silently in the body.
Cardiometabolism is a discipline that is coming to the fore as the number of people affected increases. This discipline requires cutting-edge, multidisciplinary scientific and medical research to understand complex and interconnected pathologies linked to an imbalance in an individual’s metabolism and/or genetic factors.
This is the mission of the 230 researchers and 170 doctors at the ICAN IHU.
