Research team 4 – Cellular and Systemic Lipid Metabolism in Cardiometabolic Diseases

Team 4 – SLIM Team: Cellular and Systemic Lipid Metabolism in Cardiometabolic DiseasesAXIS 1. Alteration of cellular and tissue lipid homeostasis in cardiometabolic diseases (Wilfried Le Goff & Isabelle Guillas)The objective of this research axis is to identify the mechanisms responsible for the alteration of lipid homeostasis in the liver, adipose tissue, intestine, heart and at the level of the vascular wall and to study their contribution to the inflammation and remodeling of these tissues during cardiometabolic diseases.AXIS 2. Study of the close link between the alteration of systemic lipid metabolism and the inflammatory component in human pathophysiology (Wilfried Le Goff)The objective of this research axis is to identify new physiopathological pathways linking circulating lipid metabolism and inflammation in common or rare pathologies associated with dyslipidemia and chronic inflammation resulting or not from genetic mutations.AXIS 3. Identification of new biomarkers of cardiovascular mortality (Maryse Guérin)The objective of this research axis is to study the mechanisms through which the alteration of cholesterol efflux from macrophages is associated with low-grade inflammation and cardiovascular diseases.AXIS 4. Postprandial state and metabolism of lipoproteins rich in triglycerides (Maryse Guérin)AXIS 5. Revisiting the role of high-density lipoproteins in cardiovascular disease (Anatol Kontush)AXIS 5. Revisiting the role of high-density lipoproteins in cardiovascular disease (Anatol Kontush)The objective of this research axis is to assess the impact of the role of high density lipoproteins in the reverse transport of cholesterol residues to the liver in the development of cardiovascular diseases. The objectives of our research

  • Elucidate the mechanisms involved in the alteration of cellular and systemic lipid metabolism in cardiometabolic diseases.
  • Study the relationship between the structure and function of lipoproteins
  • Propose new therapeutic approaches in cardiometabolic diseases
  • Identify and validate new biomarkers of cardiovascular risk
