7 good reasons to support medical research with the ICAN HHI
Why support medical research? By supporting the ICAN Foundation, you are helping to develop comprehensive, tailor-made treatment for cardiometabolic diseases.
With the support of its donors and sponsors, the ICAN foundation is accelerating discoveries for the benefit of patients in metabolic diseases (diabetes, obesity, liver disease or NASH, cardiovascular disease, etc.) and inventing tomorrow’s medicine in cardiometabolism.
This so-called 5P medicine (Personalised, Participatory, Predictive, Preventive and Evidence-based) is at the heart of the mobilisation of ICAN’s experts. With your support, they will save precious time.
1. Taking action on a public health issue

Cardiometabolic diseases are on the increase in France and around the world. Diabetes, obesity, liver disease ( NASH) and cardiovascular disease are all on the increase, affecting the quality of daily life of sufferers.
These diseases, which are silent during their development phase, are often detected at an advanced stage when complications appear and require hospitalisation or more extensive treatment. They can lead to major operations such as amputations or organ transplants, and are the cause of many deaths every year.
Cardiometabolic diseases as a whole are the leading cause of death in France.
2. Supporting excellence in French research into cardiometabolic diseases
As a centre of excellence for research, care, training and technology transfer in the field of cardiometabolic diseases, the ICAN IHU aims to invent the medicine, treatments and practices of tomorrow. The expertise of its scientific and medical community is recognised both nationally and internationally.this expertise is based on the strengths of its founders:AP-HP,INSERM and SORBONNE UNIVERSITE.

3. Accelerating the transfer of research advances for the direct benefit of patients

On the site of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital Group, the largest hospital centre in Europe, theIHU-ICAN brings together researchers, doctors and patients.
This continuum between research and care ensures that research discoveries are transformed into tangible benefits for patients. Clinicians have access to the best research teams and ICAN’s cutting-edge technological platforms to evaluate innovative therapeutic strategies, while researchers have access to the material and clinical data essential for conducting innovative research projects.
The ongoing dialogue between research and care benefits patients, who have access to excellent care.
4. Taking part in innovative projects: Big Data, Imaging, e-Health, etc.
ICAN doctors and researchers are working on innovative projects to improve patient care. Tomorrow’s medicine is being built on advances in technology, biology and data. Today, big data is enabling us to build the 5Ps, or even 6Ps, of medicine: Personalised, Participative, Predictive, Preventive, Evidence-based and Pathway-based, offering patients tailor-made care.
The rise of OMICs and imaging is generating vast quantities of valuable data for research. ICAN is heavily involved in Big Data, with the aim of turning it into a concrete tool for progress. Health data processing is a major challenge that needs to be met if we are to significantly accelerate scientific and medical innovation. To meet this challenge, major financial investments are needed (equipment, storage, processing, data managers, bioinformaticians, etc.). With your support, ICAN’s experts will be able to move faster.

5. Supporting a unique imaging platform in the Paris region

ICAN has decided to acquire an MRI dedicated entirely to human research into cardiometabolic diseases. The acquisition of this latest-generation 1.5T cardiovascular MRI has enabled the creation of the first cardiovascular and metabolic magnetic resonanceimaging platform dedicated entirely to humans in the Paris region.
This platform provides unique access for academic, hospital and industrial research to advanced quantitative non-invasive imaging of the cardiocirculatory system, and to the development of metabolic imaging.
These new techniques, applied directly to humans, will enable accelerated translational research focused on patients.
6. Making a direct and tangible contribution to the fight against cardiometabolic diseases
Your donation is used directly by doctors and researchers to innovate in their missions.this short circuit ensures that your generosity is used quickly and concretely.it also keeps you informed of the progress made with your support. your generosity is essentialto the research and medical teams who work with patients on a daily basis. with your donation, you become a partner of the research teams.

7. Guaranteed transparency in the management of donations

The ICAN HIF is a scientific cooperation foundation authorised to receive donations and legacies. Our status guarantees you total transparency in the management of donations. ICAN is subject to numerous controls by its supervisory bodies: Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), Inspection Générale des Affaires Sociales (IGAS), Ministère de la Recherche et de l’Enseignement Supérieur, Ministère des Solidarités et de la Santé.
